Milan Matasich, age 74 of Cannon Falls, died from a valiant, short fight with lung cancer on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2019, at the Regina Care Center in Hastings.

Milan was born on July 27, 1944, in Otocac, Lika, Croatia, the son of Ivan and Rose Matasich. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia, MN, in 1965, and later from Bemidji State University in 1969. He moved to Cannon Falls to begin his teaching career in 1970. He was the Industrial Arts teacher at Cannon Falls High School for 32 years when he retired in 2003. In his early years, he was an assistant football coach. For most of his years, he was a track and cross-country coach.
