Alvin John Peterson, age 69 of Virginia died Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born June 5, 1947, in Virginia, the son of Edwin Jon and Anna Helen (Moscatelli) Peterson, and was a graduate of Virginia High School and the Eveleth Vocational Technical College. Alvin was married to Elaine Margaret Hyrkas and was a lifelong Virginia area resident. He delivered the Mesabi Daily News and the Duluth News Tribune for over 40 years and was employed by Inland Steel, the Virginia Public Utilities, the Virginia Fire Department, Dairy Queen, Holiday Station Stores, and the M&H Gas Station. Alvin was a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, was a baseball and softball umpire, and loved teaching kids baseball.
