Sally A. Jackson Carlson died on Oct. 11, 2014, with her husband, children and grandchildren by her side.

Sally Carlson was born Jan. 30, 1947, in Crystal Falls, Mich., to William and Florence Jackson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Virginia in 1965. She was married July 30, 1999, to Philip Carlson.

She owned and operated Chestnut Grove in Virginia after graduating from Mesabi Community College with a degree in Human Services. Her work with dementia and care giving carried on to Las Vegas, Nev., in 2004. In 2010 she moved back to Virginia and continued her life’s passion of being a caregiver for Range Respite as well as providing Hospice care.
